Rosneft Supports the Creation of Ecotrails in the Tyumen Region

Tyumenneftegaz (a subsidiary of Rosneft Oil Company) started development of an ecological tourist route around Solenoye and Dolgoye lakes. The landscaping works are carried out within the framework of the enterprise's grant programme aimed at supporting environmental researches, which have an important practical value for the Tyumen Region.
The route of the ecological trail was developed by researchers of Tyumen State University and considers the habitats of rare species of plants and animals included in the Red Book.
The route is over 2 kilometres long and runs through a variety of landscapes: steppe meadow, birch and pine forests, as well as the shores of fresh and salt water reservoirs. The recreational area will have information stands about local flora and fauna. Besides, it is planned to install artificial bird nests and a stand with wood samples of the main tree species growing on the territory of the unique nature reserve. Tourists will be able to see up close birds nesting, observe animals in their natural habitat and take unique photos.
As part of the Tyumenneftegaz grant project, scientists from Tyumen State University have been conducting comprehensive ecological and biological studies of Solenoye Lake since 2021. During the research the scientists identified more than 450 species of animals, plants and fungi living in the vicinity of the lake, some of which are rare and in need of protection, included in the Red Books of different levels.

Lake Solenoye is a natural monument of regional importance. Studies confirmed that the water and mud of the lake are similar in composition to analogues of the famous Dead Sea in the Middle East. According to data available to date, the lake area is home to about 65 plant species and 64 animal species, all of which are included in the main sections of the Red Book of Tyumen region.
The popularity of the lake increased among tourists thanks to the initiative of Rosneft subsidiaries. Employees of Rosneft's enterprises in the Tyumen Region - RN-Uvatneftegaz, Tyumenneftegaz and the Rosneft Research Centre in Tyumen - landscaped the coastal area as part of an environmental action in 2021. The oil workers installed stands with information about the unique features of water, healing properties of mud and clay of the lake, and installed sanitary facilities (rubbish containers and bio-toilets) for the comfort of tourists and decrease of anthropogenic load.
